Dear Government Leaders,
I respectfully write to ask for compassion and consideration for a man, Mr. Yanez, who resides in Alabama. He is currently detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He has no criminal history and his life reflects the values that make this country great.
This man raised his children to love the United States. Not just in words, but in action.
His son is currently serving in the United States Army, and his daughter is preparing to leave for basic training soon. These young Americans are willing to place their lives on the line to defend the freedoms, Constitution, and the flag of this country.
That kind of patriotism does not appear out of nowhere. It is taught in the home.
In the few times I have spoken with Jose, he did not speak with resentment or entitlement. Instead, he spoke with gratitude. He spoke proudly about the opportunity this country gave him to raise his children in a place where freedom matters, where service matters, and where hard work and sacrifice mean something.
He bragged about America.
He bragged about the country that allowed his children to grow up believing it was worth defending. Now those children are proving it with their lives.
Regardless of where someone was born, when a parent raises children who are willing to wear the uniform of the United States and defend this nation, that family demonstrates something that many talk about but few live out: a genuine love for this country.
This father raised patriots.
At a time when our nation needs unity, loyalty, and strong families more than ever, we should recognize and support those who have instilled those values in the next generation.
I humbly ask that his case be reviewed with mercy and humanity in mind. His family has already demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the United States through their service. Granting him relief would honor not only him, but also the sacrifices his children are making for our nation.
America is a nation of laws that is founded on the power of mercy and common sense. It is strongest when justice is balanced with compassion.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and service to this country,
Ashley Austin
