Crossroads

Sometimes God will put you at a crossroads where you can either obey … or walk away.

Yesterday, He put me at one.

After church and several suggestions for lunch, we finally landed on Mellow Mushroom. As soon as we walked in, I noticed a young woman. We exchanged a simple smile and head nod, and that was it.

Or so I thought.

There was something about her.

She had a light, somehow, brighter than anyone else in the restaurant.

The moment I sat down, I felt an overwhelming tug on my heart. I knew the Holy Spirit was prompting me to do something but I didn’t know what.

I prayed, “Lord, what is it, make it clear.”

The tears came. I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was supposed to speak to that young lady.

Finally, my husband looked at me and said, “You’re at a crossroads. What are you going to do? Maybe God is asking you to simply be obedient.”

So I got up.

I walked across the restaurant to her table, she was surrounded by several other people, and said:

“I’m sorry to interrupt your lunch, but the Lord is dealing with me to tell you that He loves you and that what you’ve been praying for, He is going to fulfill.”

She simply smiled and thanked me.

I walked back to my table shaking and thanking Jesus.

I don’t know her story.
I don’t know what she’s been praying for.
I don’t know what those words meant to her.

But I know what that meant to me.

I’ve prayed, “Lord, use me.”

Yesterday, He gave me the opportunity.

I was scared. I questioned it. I fought it. But eventually, I surrendered and obeyed.

It’s not my business to know the outcome. It was my job to only obey.

Maybe obedience doesn’t always begin in confidence.

Maybe confidence comes when we choose surrender to obey.

Thank You, Jesus, for the Holy Spirit who leads us, stretches us, and gives us boldness when we don’t have it ourselves.

Not my power.
Not my words.
Not my confidence.
His. ❤️‍🔥

Lord, make me willing to go wherever You send me and bold enough to obey when You say, “Go.”
